Portraits in Charcoal and Pan Pastel, July 15-29, (10am-1pm), Saturdays
In this course, students will learn a painterly approach to charcoal portrait drawing. Emphasis on proportion, accuracy in depicting facial features, and recognizing and interpreting value. This course is for everyone who would like to draw and paint the portrait with greater realism. Realist artist Denise Laurin will provide demos, instruction, and guidance.
Supply list: Generals charcoal pencils medium, soft (2 each); Generals white charcoal pencils (2); Factis BM2 eraser; sharpener for charcoal pencils and (optional) Xacto knife for sharpening; Black pan pastel; White pan pastel; Sofft pointed pan pastel applicator and Sofft covers. Flat paint brush, half inch wide; 2-3 sheets of light or medium gray toned pastel paper, such as Canson or Strathmore, approx. 18” x 24”.
