Barb Lipkin
I’ve been making art most of my life, but after retiring from a career in nursing I decided to pursue my dual passions for painting and writing.
My paintings are all about knock-your-socks-off color. Whether the subject is representational or imaginative, realistic or totally abstract, I want my viewers to feel that they are in the painting, surrounded by it, engaged with it, and I want them to say, “WOW!” My 12 x 12 abstract pieces are perfect for highlighting a narrow space or grouped together for an unexpected burst of color.
I am the author of the Bella Sarver Mystery series: Painting Lessons, Brush With Death, Paint a Murder, Death on the Danube and The Butterfly Carpet Murders. My detective, Bella Sarver, is an artist and teacher who lives in the fictional Chicago suburb of Deer Creek who somehow manages to involve herself in murders. The novels offer an insider view of the art world that most ordinary artists live and work in.
I recently published A Wonderful Good Morning, about a man who gets stuck in a time loop while traveling on the Rhine and his artist friends who set out to find him. and Riva’s Journey: a Memoir, which is an historical novel in the form of a memoir. My novels can be purchased on www.Amazon.com in both paperback and Kindle editions.
A long-time resident of Naperville, I’ve been a member of the Naperville Art League for many years and taught painting and drawing classes for years, too—pre-Covid!
