Recording images has always been a part of my life. I liked telling stories through art from a young age. First using a pencil to draw then a brush to paint. Painting on whatever was on hand.
In my early twenties I discovered the camera as a tool that I could use to continue on my image making journey. As my interest in photography grew, I began to read about other photographers like James Van Der Zee, Walker Evans, Carrie Mae Weems, Paul Strand, Gordon Parks, Andre Kertesz, Edward Weston, and many others. They say what’s old is new again. We learn from those that came before us and adding our own experience and your way of seeing the world.
I use a digital camera to capture moments while also using a camera to convey an idea that I’ve created, like the pieces “Tailor’s Dream” and ‘Photographers Dream”. I present images in black and white and color. There are times that I feel the image can only be presented in color in order to convey what I’m feeling about it or in black and white accordingly.
My subject matter is diverse, ranging from urbanscapes to landscapes to people to objects and as mentioned previously, to conceptual photographic images. I continue to exhibit my work in diverse venues such as galleries, private showing and other spaces.
