MIXED MEDIA ART & MURAL PAINTING:
Laura Lynne is best known for creating boldly colored and whimsically designed mixed media art and murals. She is inspired by the immersion in nature she had growing up in Wisconsin, fairy tales, and song lyrics.
Her mixed media artworks are created using paper of all kinds, a scissors, hole punch and sometimes an x-acto knife, which means her art studio often looks like it just rained confetti. The original art has a rich, raised texture as she layers and layers the different papers with acrylic medium. Laura’s mural work uses the same whimsical subjects, metallic paints and bright colors.
It is very important to her that art be accessible and affordable to all people, so she also creates giclee print reproductions.
COLLABORATIONS:
In 2020 Laura developed a virtual program for the DuPage Children's Museum to teach kids about art inspired by native Illinois plants and wildlife. The children submitted their artworks during the program to Laura who printed and collaged them into a large artwork that is displayed in the museum. Since 2020, Laura has worked with numerous organizations, schools and families to create community artworks and murals, and has led many nature-inspired art programs virtually and in person.
