Kathy Cox
Kathy discovered her passion for art in the early 1980s, when her children were still young. She immersed herself in classes and quickly developed a love for watercolor painting. Encouraged by friends and family, she began creating children’s murals on bedroom walls. Her talent gained local recognition when the Naperville Sun featured the life-sized world of Winnie the Pooh she painted on the walls of her daughter’s room.
Over the years, Kathy continued to nurture her craft, carving out precious moments to devote to painting. Her home soon became a gallery of vibrant, one-of-a-kind works. She also brought her artistry to the halls of her husband’s Naperville Eye Associates office, fulfilling many personalized requests from patients.
In the early 2000’s, Kathy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. She says her passion for art “saved her”. She put all her energy into creating beauty, even when her hands trembled and no longer cooperated as she wished they would. Her art has evolved with her, but it has never abandoned her. Kathy’s art gives her purpose every day. In the words of one of Kathy’s most beloved quotes, “Happy are the painters, for they shall not be lonely.” -Winston Churchill
