Mosaic Garden Art, June 9 & 10 (10am-1pm), Friday & Saturday
This informative and fun class is intended for beginning or self-taught students who want to learn the best practice in creating a mosaic piece, cutting china and glass, types and proper use of adhesives, china chard layout, and grouting. Students will complete a mosaic of their choice to introduce them to materials such as art glass, a variety of dishware such as porcelain or ceramic, glass and ceramic tiles, glass balls, stringed glass beads amongst a variety of odds and ends. Students are encouraged to experiment with color and texture as well as how to manipulate the materials to conform to their mosaic piece. All materials and use of tools are included. Tools are also available for purchase. Students will take home their finished mosaic as well as an instructional guide summarizing information taught during class.

Portraits in Charcoal and Pan Pastel, July 15-29, (10am-1pm), Saturdays
In this course, students will learn a painterly approach to charcoal portrait drawing. Emphasis on proportion, accuracy in depicting facial features, and recognizing and interpreting value. This course is for everyone who would like to draw and paint the portrait with greater realism. Realist artist Denise Laurin will provide demos, instruction, and guidance.
Supply list: Generals charcoal pencils medium, soft (2 each); Generals white charcoal pencils (2); Factis BM2 eraser; sharpener for charcoal pencils and (optional) Xacto knife for sharpening; Black pan pastel; White pan pastel; Sofft pointed pan pastel applicator and Sofft covers. Flat paint brush, half inch wide; 2-3 sheets of light or medium gray toned pastel paper, such as Canson or Strathmore, approx. 18” x 24”.

This is a perfect basket for carrying your purchases from the local farmer’s market. At 10x14 inch, it will carry just about anything you could find at the market. Fun with Gold Leaf, August 19-26, (10am-1pm), 2 Saturdays
In this course, students will create their own Klimt-inspired composition using gold leaf. Demonstrations of working with gold leaf will be provided by realist artist Denise Laurin. Students can create their own design using Klimt-inspired shapes and/or stencils supplied by the instructor.

Fall Gourd Composition in Colored Pencil, November 18-25, (10am-1pm), 2 Saturdays
Students will learn to make an accurate initial graphite drawing and how to layer colored pencil for a finished look. Realist artist Denise Laurin will demonstrate and guide students toward a successful fall composition.
Appropriate for all levels, ages 18 and up.

Watercolor/Acrylic Painting, November 30 - December 14, Thursdays (11am-1pm)
Artist Benita Brewer will substitute for Carmelo Schifano who takes the fear out of watercolor as he invites his students to relax and get loose. Participants will learn the basic technique and take home completed works. Helpful critiques will ensure that class members get the most out of their lessons. Create your own compositions using your own photo references. Develop simple concept sketches coupled with value studies. Find how the principles and elements of design greatly affect your outcome. Manipulate simple guidelines for developing your great work of art, while leaving your fear home and having fun at the Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery with Benita. Supply list: see below.
Mosaic Fun Weekend, December 1-2, (10am-1pm), Friday & Saturday
This informative and fun class is intended for beginning or self-taught students who want to learn the best practice in creating a mosaic piece, cutting china and glass, types and proper use of adhesives, china chard layout, and grouting. Students will complete a mosaic of their choice to introduce them to materials such as art glass, a variety of dishware such as porcelain or ceramic, glass and ceramic tiles, glass balls, stringed glass beads amongst a variety of odds and ends. Students are encouraged to experiment with color and texture as well as how to manipulate the materials to conform to their mosaic piece. All materials and use of tools are included. Tools are also available for purchase. Students will take home their finished mosaic as well as an instructional guide summarizing information taught during class.

Oil Painting/Drawing from Live Model, December 7-21, (5:30-8:30pm), 3 Thursdays
Work on your own oil portrait in an encouraging atmosphere where realist artist Denise Laurin will be on hand to guide you. Whether you need assistance with a portrait you have already begun, or a new portrait, this class will help you achieve your goals. Easels and worktables are provided.
Oil Painting/drawing from a live model. The model will be clothed, and students could focus on the figure or the portrait only.

Farmer's Market Basket Weaving Workshop, December 9 (10am-4pm), Saturday
This is a perfect basket for carrying your purchases from the local farmer’s market. At 10x14 inch, it will carry just about anything you could find at the market. Spend the day having fun, learning an ancient craft. At the end of the day take home a beautiful handmade basket. Please bring a beverage and lunch to the workshop.
A supply fee of $60.00 is payable to the teacher.

In this small classroom setting, we will explore theme-based projects for the photography enthusiast, small business owner, to students looking to craft their lifelong profession in photography. Bring your favorite camera, whether it be a smartphone, DSLR, mirrorless or compact camera for individual mentorship with Michelle Rae Sobi. Let’s explore the world of photography together!
Required Gear: Smartphone, DSLR, Mirrorless Camera, or Compact Camera. We will review the basic functions of your favorite gear to complete the planned theme. Please bring your manual for your device for specific guidance for your gear.
Draw a Christmas Jingle Bell in Graphite, December 16, (10am-1pm), Saturday
Join realist artist Denise Laurin for a two-session course to draw a Christmas jingle bell. Students will learn how to create the illusion of reflective metal in this two-session course.
