Deadline Extended to March 5 for
Broken Barriers, NAL's 13th Annual Public Art Competition
For the thirteenth consecutive year, the Naperville Art League (NAL) is inviting individuals to enter an original work of art into their public art contest. This year's theme, "Broken Barriers," was inspired by the collaboration between the arts organization and fellow non-profit, Loaves and Fishes Community Services. By creating a partnership for the competition, both groups hope to reach a larger audience and raise awareness of their presence in the community.
Eligibility for participation in the competition is open to high school students, college students and adults. Entrants may submit pieces interpreting the theme in virtually any media. Pieces may be representational or abstract and must be original in design, concept and execution. There is a nominal fee for entering.
Cash awards will be given for Best of Show and Awards of Excellence. Applications and details on media, size and other requirements are available from the Naperville Art League by calling 630.355.2530 or at www.napervilleartleague.com.
The works will be exhibited at the Naperville Art League's Fine Art Center & Gallery, 508 N. Center St. March 11 through March 21 with a special reception and awards ceremony on Sunday, March 15 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
Entries for "Broken Barriers" will be accepted at the Naperville Art League's Fine Art Center & Gallery any Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from noon until 4:00 pm or Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm through March 5, 2016. An entry form, available at the League's Fine Art Center & Gallery or at www.napervilleartleague.com, must be completed and affixed to the piece along with an artist's statement of 100 words or less explaining how the entry relates to the theme.

The Naperville Art League (NAL) offers hands-on art classes throughout the year for adults and children. It is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization sponsored by membership dedicated to promoting and supporting the visual arts and encouraging artists within the community.
The Naperville Art League hosts monthly themed art shows featuring original artwork created by members and all pieces are for sale. Each art show attempts to represent current local events, stylistic artistic elements, and the traditions of fine art representation while giving local artists a forum to exhibit their work to the community.
NAL's Fine Art Center and Gallery is located at 508 North Center Street in Naperville. The Gallery is open Wednesday through Friday from noon until 4:00 P.M. and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M.
