Seriously Fun Art Drop In!

Join us for some serious fun where elementary school students can experience art basics while stretching their imagination.  Guided lessons cover a variety of media as we create 2 and 3D artworks. Draw, paint, shape, blend, and sculpt with artist Penny Coffman. Students will try a variety of media and receive plenty of attention and encouragement. Always new projects. All supplies provided. Dress for mess.

Open Studio & Art Coach — Tweens & Teens

Instructor:  Penny Coffman

Thursdays                     5:00 pm—6:30 pm

Age Jr. High and High School

Drop In:  $20 or 6 sessions for $98

Register with NAL.

This drop in class is half-guided lesson and half open studio. One weeks lesson it might cover perspective, or design elements and another week we might cover charcoal drawing, painting mediums, value studies or colored pencil. Supplies will be provided for these lessons. The open studio time offers additional technique and personal coaching as the student works on the project of their choice. Positive feedback will be given in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.

Metal Crochet Workshop

Instructor: Marita Valdizan

Saturday June 2                       10:00 am – 12:30 pm

Fee: $60                                                Ages 16 – Adult

Supply Fee: $20

Create a beautiful beaded crochet pendant, bracelet, necklace or pair of earrings using wire colors and beads – a stunning addition to any wardrobe and a great way to put an amazing technique to use! No experience in wire crochet required. A $20 supply kit fee will be collected in class.

Seriously Fun Painting

Painting for fun in an atmosphere that’s relaxed and supportive. Students will explore composition, style, and color. Using a variety of different tools, supports and paints young artists will create several painting in this 5 morning camp with artist Penny Coffman.


Painting For Teens

Instructor: Penny Coffman

Monday- Friday: June 18- 22        1:00pm – 4:00pm

Fee: $120          Ages: Junior High/High School

Painting for fun in an atmosphere that’s relaxed and supportive. Students will explore composition, style, color and what give your painting that Wow factor. Different types of paint, additives, tools and supports will be explored in a series of mini lessons.  Then you will use what you learned create several small paintings.  Great for the beginner and intermediate painter.


Painting Nature

Instructor: Tony, Karen and Lauren

Monday-Friday June 25-June 29 9:00 am- 3:00 pm

Fee: $200                                  Ages:5-13

The theme this year is “NATURE”.  Your child will explore objects in Nature, through acrylic paintings, watercolors and sculpey sculpture. The children should wear old clothes, bring a roll of paper towels, a morning snack, something to drink and a sack lunch. All art supplies are included in the price!  Children will be working on their projects throughout the week, preparing for their Art Show on Friday afternoon at 2:30. Family and friends are all invited!


Portrait Drawing for Young Adults

Instructor: June Padovani

Monday-Friday July 9-13              1:00 pm- 4:30 pm

Fee: $135                                          Ages 12-18

Learn how to draw portraits and create more professional finished portraits. We will be working on learning human facial anatomy, facial expression, proper proportions and shading. Bring a few photos to work from and additional ones will be provided. Students to bring own drawing art supplies.


Dabbler

For the absolute beginner who thinks they might like to give art a try.  No judgement just exploration and fun in a supportive atmosphere. Acrylic, watercolor, pastel and drawing are some of the mediums we’ll use. Students receive tips and techniques to boost confidence and success along with step by step direction. Bring a sack lunch and a beverage.

Glass Painting

Learn how to make really cool painted glasses!!!  This class will show you the template AND free-hand methods to paint gorgeous glasses.  Your instructor will show you all of the techniques, tips and tricks that will make this medium one of your new favorites once you discover how easy and fun it is!  Students should bring at least two clean glasses, such as wine glasses, beer pint glasses, stemless ware, or even vases! Students may bring in as many glasses as they think they can finish in two hours.  Most students complete two glasses. All other materials such as paint, aprons, etc are supplied by the instructor.

Wood Signs

Love those monogram wood signs?Want to create your very own seasonal sign?  Learn how to stencil your own custom wood sign using a vast array of stencils and templates.  Your instructor will teach you how to create crisp, even stenciling, as well as how to incorporate modge podge and painting into your signs! This is a three-in- one class! All materials provided by instructor, which includes, one 12inch x 16inch wood sign, paint, stencils, templates, aprons,etc.

Art Journaling for Teens

Art for 2

Young artists will bring one of their favorite adults with them to class.  Together they will explore and create in 2 and 3-D.  Art explorations are set up in stations and the art duos move through the activities at their own pace.  Focus is on creative play and a positive experience.  Dress for mess.

Pop Culture Media Exploration

Help break out of your artistic comfort zone by introducing yourself to new mediums through the use of familiar pop culture from video games, comic books, TV shows, and more! You will get ready for art by practicing different mediums from things you already know and love!  Not familiar with watercolour?  How about painting Super Mario?  Don’t know how to use markers?  Let us make Spider-Man.  Mixed Media?  How about we make Elsa?

Learn and create while practicing the basics then expand with tips and techniques to take it to the next level.  Students will draw a variety of fun subjects with supportive step by step guidance. Interesting subject material and the opportunity to try different drawing tools make this fun for the beginner to intermediate student.


Fiber and Fabric:  Sewing for Expression

Have you always loved fabric and fibers but when someone says “sewing” you begin to stress out? This class is designed for the beginner or experienced fiber artist who wants to learn expressive, simple embellishment techniques such as embroidery, applique, cut-away, and other textile/fiber applications to add to your wardrobe or fiber art piece. Both machine and traditional processes will be explored through small projects to see where the thread leads you!

Car2ning Camp

Take a vacation with imagination this Summer. This popular class with an award-winning cartoonist Roger Schillerstrom helps you bring your ideas to life. Learn about drawing people and animals, movement and perspective in this excursion into the world of cartooning. Join us each Thursday over a five-week period for and hour and a half of drawing fun. Drawing supplies are included. Minimum class size required.
