NAL Artist’s Galleries – George Dubenic
My name is George Dubenic. I am 63 years old and I am a semi-retired greenhouse manager. I had always wanted to try my hand at painting, and when I noticed that my oldest son had artistic talent when he was in junior high in about the year 2000, I found a well known local artist who taught lessons at his home. We went together once a week for about one year and he taught us the grid method, then on to pastels, then oils. The day came when he said that he had taught us all of the basics and now we just needed to go out on our own and keep painting, learning from our mistakes, learning short cuts and becoming better from experience. Well, at that point I had fallen in love with art and haven’t stopped since. I use all of the different types of media and mix them to create the best results. One of my favorite mixes is pastels, colored pencils, and markers. Two years ago I started doing what I like to call – impressionistic abstracts, using acrylic paints, and it has become my favorite style to work in.
My goal, of course, is to improve the quality of each new piece and to keep experimenting with new techniques and media.Collection Statement:
My goal in this exhibit is to show my versatility of painting styles, using different types and mixes of media.
