I first discovered art as a 4 year old,
sandwiched between my parents in church, drawing on the bulletin and idly
wondering when we could leave. I still continue to draw, but not in church.
Although I am guilty of sketching during classes at North Central where I am
pursuing a masters degree in liberal arts. I really enjoy the classes,
I just can't keep from sketching whatever is around me.
Determined not to be a starving artist, I studied graphic design,
advertising and fine art at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Upon
graduation I eventually obtained a job in the advertising field. After
gaining some real world experience I started my own graphic design company
and have been in business now for 15 years. My husband, who is also a
designer works with me. We also teach art and computer graphics to children
with learning differences.
I paint primarily in watercolor when I can find the time. I leave it up to
the viewer to determine the meaning. I usually provide a title to offer a
context in which the piece can be interpreted. Sometimes I just paint for
fun, other times I am trying to tell a story. Whatever the case, there seems
to be a personal satisfaction obtained that can only be derived from
creating art.
