What is the Naperville Art League?
   We are a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization sponsored by our membership and dedicated to promoting and supporting the visual arts and encouraging artists within the community.

Who can join?
   Any interested person, age 18 or older may join the Art League. Families may also join with younger members.

How do I join?
   Fill out an application, and pay the annual membership fee. Memberships may be renewed each year in May-June.

Do you have to be an artist to join?
  No, anyone who appreciates art may join.

Do you have live in Naperville to join?
  No, anyone who is an artist or art appreciator may join, regardless of where they live or work.

What are the responsibilities of a member?
    Members are expected to help out and support at least one activity a year. Members who exhibit in the Gallery are expected to volunteer at least four hours of time to the Gallery and or NAL events, in some capacity.

   Members are also asked to donate one piece of art representative of their work for the Annual Auction or to donate an equivalent monetary amount to the Art League's operations and community programs for the year.

What is the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair?
    Riverwalk Fine Art Fair (RFAF) is an annual fine art open-air exhibit and sale which takes place about the third weekend in September each year, put on by the Naperville Art League. Some 150 artists, each of whose work is juried prior to to the show, exhibit at the Fair. Application for the show is open to artists nationally. There is no preference for NAL members; however, NAL waives the jurying fee for any member who wishes to apply for RFAF. The show is deemed to be among the top 10 shows in Illinois and is rated among the top 200 shows nationally. The show is organized and staffed entirely by members of the NAL, who work throughout the year to ensure the show's success.

How do I apply for the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair?
   Obtain an application for the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair and follow the directions contained in the application.

What is the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair Application deadline?
   Applications must be received on or before May 15, each year.

How do I volunteer to help out and support NAL events?
    The NAL membership and renewal applications contain a list of ways in which members can volunteer, and you can indicate the capacities in which you'd be willing to help. Additionally, if you wish to volunteer for a particular event, just call the NAL desk; you'll be referred to the person or committee in charge of the event. Your time and effort will be greatly appreciated!

How do I get my work on exhibit at the Gallery?
   Any artist member who wishes to exhibit his/her work may bring up to three pieces of work to the Gallery at the dates and times specified in the monthly newsletter for delivering work for each monthly show. Members are entitled to exhibit their work in the monthly shows. Some special-event shows are juried prior to the exhibit. Alternatively, please call the NAL desk for information about when and how to bring your work for display in the monthly exhibit.

  All work presented for exhibit at the Gallery must comply with the NAL Exhibit Rules as set forth in the Members' Directory.

  All work exhibited at the Gallery is exhibited at the artist's own risk. Neither the Naperville Art League nor any member or officer or personnel will assume liability for the loss of or damage to any artwork regardless of the cause.

Can I sell my work at the Gallery?
   Happily, member art is often sold at the Gallery! The artist specifies the purchase price for the work, which is displayed with the work in the Gallery. The Gallery sells the work and pays all sales tax on the sale. All work sold at the gallery is subject to a donation to the NAL of 20% of the purchase price of the work sold. The remaining amount of the purchase price is remitted to the artist.

   Artist members may also sell their work though the E-Gallery on our website. All work sold through the E-Gallery website is subject to the same 20% donation to the NAL and sold through the same procedure as above.

Can I attend NAL business meetings?
   Members are entitled to attend the General Meetings, which are held approximately 8 times per year, as well as the monthly Board Meetings, generally held on the first Monday of each month. Meeting dates are posted on each monthly newsletter.

How do I sign up for Art Classes and Workshops?
    Many NAL art classes are advertised through the quarterly magazine published by the Naperville Park District, which is distributed each quarter to all Naperville residents. All Park District advertised classes must be registered for through the Park District by the specified date. Please see your Park District magazine for information, or visit the Park District website for information and to register.

    All NAL classes, both those registered through the Park District and those offered independently, are listed on this website each quarter. To sign up for a non-Park District class, please download the application, fill it out, and mail it together with the appropriate class fee to the address on the application.

How do I get my artwork on the E-Gallery website?
   First, you must join the NAL and pay a A $25.00 fee is required payable at the NAL office. Next, obtain the information on the Artists' Galleries and follow directions on placing your work on the E-Gallery's website for exhibit and/or for sale.

Where is the Gallery located?
   The Fine Arts Center and Gallery is located close to downtown Naperville at 508 North Center Street, on the corner of North Center St. and North 5th Ave., one block east of Washington Street, and just north of the Naperville Train Station.

When is the Gallery open?
   We are open Wednesday - Friday, noon to 4 PM, and Saturday 10 AM - 4 PM. The Gallery is the location for all NAL classes and workshops and seminars, unless otherwise indicated. There may be additional hours for special events.

Does the Art League do appraisals?
   No, we refer you to the American Society of Appraisers in Northbrook at 847-568-0222.
