Art classes are held at the
Naperville Fine Art Center, 508 North Center Street, Naperville, IL 60563,

Class supply
lists (See Below, pdf downloadable) are available at the Naperville Fine
Art Center and Gallery. Supplies may be purchased at Hobby Lobby, Michael’s.
Items are reduced regularly, so watch for sales! You can also shop at Blick
Art Materials, 79 Danada Square East in Wheaton (630.653.0569,
www.dickblick.com).

Meets Jan 19th-Feb 9th 2010 (4 week course)
Fee: $165.00
Audience: Adult
Min/Max: In class instructor will provide the use of the tack irons and hair dryers.
Please note in first class we will be doing some warm up exercises on watercolor paper, using sample image transfers and your coated collage papers.

Small jar of joint compound-premix found at hardware store
Molding paste
Mat medium
Polymer medium gloss
Small container of gesso

140lb to 300 lb watercolor paper cut to personal size
Clay board, with or without cradle board
Canvas with plexi-glass to support with use of tack iron
Polymer medium gloss (Golden Brand, purchase at Dick Blick’s in Wheaton, IL)
Brushes, small and large
Acrylic paints
Drafting or artist tape
Scissor
Ruler
X-acto knife
Putty knife to spread molding paste and or joint compound
Rubber gloss if you’re sensitive
Plastic table cloth
Images for transfers
Items to stamp into molding paste and joint compound
Baby wipes in zip lock or tub.
One rag (t-shirt material used in removing paper from image transfer.)
Items to stamp in to textured medium.
Sponges
Pastel pencils-Optional
A fixative spray
There may be other items added on as the weeks pass.

Collage on Paper, Clay board
and Canvas
Instructor: Laura Lein-Svencner
Day: Tuesday’s
Times: 9:30am-12:00 noon
Break for lunch ½ hr. brown bag
Dates: Jan 19th-Feb 9th (4 week course)
Fee $165.00
Adults
Students will explore and experiment with collage on all three substrates; watercolor paper, clay board and canvas. Emphases will be express on composition and design using collage papers, mediums and acrylics. The option to use 3D elements is a possibility. The heat fusion technique with a tack iron will be used in this class which then allows for crisp clean image transfers. Please note this class is a bit more challenging then the past ones.

- "D-I-Y Wedding Flowers"

D-I-Y Wedding Flowers - Learn how to do-your-own wedding flowers
Are you an eager D-I-Y goddess or budget-conscious bride-to-be? Even if you've just always wanted to learn floral design for weddings, this is the perfect class for you! We will cover everything from corsages and boutonnieres to bouquets and centerpieces in this 6 week course. You will learn everything about wedding floral design including how to process and care for flowers, construction techniques and design rules. There will also be a field trip to a wholesale florist to see where the professionals shop and learn more about flowers in general. Starter supplies will be provided the first day of class and additional supplies can be purchased as needed. Supplies include specialty clippers, florist's pocket knife, floral wire, floral tape, ribbon, corsage pins, floral foam, containers, and more. Please note that you get to keep everything you make during class and flowers and containers will be provided (thus this class will cost a bit more than most offered-but its SO worth it!). You may want to bring an apron so you don't get messy and don't get a manicure before coming to class either! Intro to Floral Design
Learn the basics of floral design
Have you ever wanted to put a floral arrangement together for your dining room table but did not know where to begin? If so, this class would be the place to learn everything you've ever wanted to know about floral design! You will learn how to create simple a bud vase arrangement, a long and low table centerpiece, a tall mixed vase arrangement, an Asian-inspired design, some "Martha Stewart"-style vase clusters, and a sculptural modern piece. Starter supplies will be provided the first day of class and additional supplies can be purchased as needed. Supplies include specialty clippers, florist's pocket knife, floral wire, floral tape, ribbon, corsage pins, floral foam, containers, and more. Please note that you get to keep everything you make during class (you'll create a total of 6 arrangements) and all flowers and containers will be provided (thus this class will cost a bit more than most offered-but its SO worth it!)
