  • Seriously Fun Art - On-going Art Classes with the FineArt Chick

    Join us for some serious fun where students will experience art basics while stretching their imagination. A variety of media will be explored as we create 2 and 3D artworks. Draw, paint, shape, blend, and sculpt with artist Penny Coffman. Students will try several media and receive plenty of attention and encouragement. All supplies provided. Dress for mess.

    Day / Time: Mondays & Thursdays 4:15 – 5:15 Grade: K - 4
    Fee: $16/week paid in 6 or 8 week sessions

  • Open Studio and Art Coach 4 Tweens and Teens - On-going Art Classes with the FineArt Chick

    Tweens and Teens come together for this unique drop in art class. A half hour guided lesson during each session provides exposure to a great variety of tools, tips and techniques. One week the focus might be perspective, another week we might cover charcoal drawing, painting mediums, composition, value studies, colored pencil, acrylics or oils. Supplies will be provided for these lessons. The balance of the class time will be Open Studio and personal coaching. Students will work on the project of their choice. Positive feedback will be given in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. The half hour technique lesson will occur at approximately 5:15 pm. Students need only a sketchbook to start. Over time they may want some of their own supplies for their ongoing independent work.

    For artists with some experience in pastels, this class is geared toward expanding your technique and composition. We will work with a variety of underpainting techniques to advance your work. Students are encouraged to develop their own style in a supportive environment. A weekly critique will strengthen your compositional skills.

    If you've always wanted to try the luscious colors of pastels, but don't want to invest in expensive supplies, this workshop is for you. Students will be able to try various papers and techniques, and use a variety of pastels brands. There will be plenty of short demonstrations, and time to try it all yourself. Just show up with your apron and enjoy.

    Cost: $50, plus a $20 Supply fee

  • Writing and Acting Improv Workshop  
     

    Price & Time: 5 sessions on Tuesdays Jan. 24th - Feb. 21st (ages 16 and older.)
    Afternoon sessions:12:30 - 2:00 pm Evening sessions: 6:30 - 8:00 pm
    Tuition is $35 per session (when prepaying all 5 sessions) or $40 per session to pay as you go.

    There are spaces available for the writing and acting improv workshop. Sessions will engage both writers and actors in a refreshing, collaborative process that requires you to think quick on your feet. Writers will work through a variety of
    exciting hands on exercises to develop an organic voice and purpose within their words. The actors will engage in improvisonal performances of the writer’s work to practice honesty on stage moment to moment. Writers must bring a sample of their work to the first session and actors should prepare a 3-5 minute performance so skill levels can be assessed. Space is limited.

    Learn all the different ways you can create lovely stained tissues papers, alter and texture found papers while using a mixture acrylic materials and mediums. These four long class session will be strictly collage paper making. Non stop high creative energy will be required, guaranteed to make you feel like a kid again. It's a great opportunity to "Stock up" on those collage papers or repurpose your old ones. Rolling, sanding, scribing, scratching, stenciling and stamping with the added surprise of creating resists.

    4 Weeks 165.00 class size limited to 10 students

    Small supply fee will be collected in first class of $15.00

  • Free Flow Mixed Media Collage

    Loosen up and work intuitively layering acrylics, pastels and your scrap collage papers. Students will find compositional direction through the intermingling of mixed media layers, creating depth and a sense of personal artistic history. Use of the tack iron and image transfer will be explored, as well as the opportunity to add texture and meaning through stamping, scraping and scratching.

  • Oil and Cold Wax Workshop


    Explore the technique of combining oil paint and cold wax. Unlike encaustic, cold wax is used at room temperature, without heat, to extend the oil paint and act as a medium. Incorporate other media such as oil sticks and pigment to create dynamic paintings. You will use an array of non-traditional tools to build up layers, create texture, and add depth. This class emphasizes the process and is experimental in nature. We will break for lunch each day - please bring a lunch. Supply list. View instructor work at
